Mr. Higgins continues the development of the American tone poem characterized by its use of orchestra and jazz. His music is fresh, imaginative and exceedingly personal, with the composer's profound appreciation of creation, matched with his artistry in performance.

2016 - 2017

Doug is working towards a Masters in Music Composition. He is using this time to work on some of his new projects.

Greek Hymns

Doug is an advid reader of Greek and is currently working on three Greek compositions. These will be performed by five male voices in 2016 at the University of Montana.

Woodwind Quintet

The piece is based on Genesis. It is a work of four movements; In the Beginning, Restoration, Creation of Man, and The kingdom.

Jazz trios

Continuing Doug's interest and history with Jazz, he will be writing new jazz pieces for three piece ensembles featuring himself on trumpet  and flugel horn. This is his continuing jazz work for his Montana Brass label.
